The 990 line is one of New Balance's most beloved, which to celebrate the line's 40th anniversary, two special versions 1 and 2 were released. The model first debuted in 1982 with a version released in 1998, and although there are almost two decades between sneakers, silver metallic details and red branding tie the two eras together.
The New Balance 990 "Version 1" is made of lightweight mesh and premium quality suede. Shots in steel gray accent the base, as do overlays for a metallic look, while white defines details like the iconic "N" logo. The "version 1" label is positioned on the sides and is colored red, as are the signatures on the shoe.
